I’m feeling a bit nostalgic about Summer 2017 coming to an end. For my family and me, this has been a great season!
Today, I’d like to say, “So long, Sweet Summer!”
A favorite summertime activity is taking our granddaughter, Emalynn, to the Kootenai County Fair. During our special once-a-year activity, we probably don’t tell our granddaughter, “no” often enough. We spend way too much money. We allow Emmi to eat a not-so-well-balanced meal, such as corn on the cob and cotton candy. A steady diet of such extravagance wouldn’t be a good thing, but our annual Fair day builds wonderful summertime memories and promises some nice photos.
I hope you’ll enjoy a few of this year’s At-the-Fair-with Emmi photos as well as some accompanying thoughts.
When it feels like I don’t know which way to turn, when life’s circumstances cause me to feel like I’m in a cage, I’ll pause and pray,
Show me the right path, O Lord;
point out the road for me to follow.
Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you.
Psalm 25:4 & 5 (NLT)
When I’m afraid, I’ll remember,
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
When life gets messy, I’ll press into the assurance God’s along for the ride.
And I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in his grace until his task within you is finally finished…
Philippians 1:6 (TLB)
When it feels like my ‘soul’ is riding a roller coaster, I’ll hang on, fix my gaze on how wide and long and high and deep God’s love is for me. Then I’ll lean into the mighty inner power at work within my ‘soul’ that’s able to accomplish infinitely more than I might ask or think. (See Ephesians 3:18-20)
Blessings on each and every season of your journey…
