“Wrestling…Part 3”

Post #3 – Which Path Should I Choose?

     Lord…Which path should I choose? I’ve asked God this question on many occasions—especially when I’m in a season of ‘wrestling.’

     My husband knows I’m intrigued by paths, and he’s always ready with his camera to capture a good path picture. During our recent vacation to the eastern part of the United States, he took many.

     Since several Listening… readers have asked me to share some of Ron’s photos, I decided today’s post will consist of some vacation path pictures, accompanied by thoughts from scripture.

     I hope you’ll enjoy and that the ancient words from scripture—some with a modern twist—will encourage you to keep looking for the right path as you ‘wrestle’ to make good decisions!

Williamsburg, VA

[Wisdom’s] ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. Proverbs 3:17 (NIV)

Jamestown, VA

To You, O Lord,
do I lift up my soul.

O my God, I trust in You;
may I not be ashamed…

Make me to know Your ways, O Lord;
teach me Your paths. (Psalm 25:1-4 MEV)

Virginia Beach, VA

The Lord gives wisdom…Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path. (Proverbs 2:6 & 9 (NIV)

Jamestown, VA

This is a passage of scripture I go to often when I’m ‘wrestling,’ trying to determine the correct path to take.

“My thoughts,” says the Lord, “are not like yours,
and my ways are different from yours.
As high as the heavens are above the earth,
so high are my ways and thoughts above yours. (Isaiah 55:8 & 9 GNT)

Williamsburg,, VA

Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps. (Proverbs 14:15 NLT)

Rural Virginia

By your words I can see where I’m going;
they throw a beam of light on my dark path. (Psalm 119:105 NLT)

WW II Memorial, Washington. D. C.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5 & 6 MEV)

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras, NC, has 257 steps—many more than I’m used to climbing—but the view from the top was spectacular!

 We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps. (Proverbs 16:9 NLT)

Waynesboro, VA

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:1-3 NIV)

Harpers Ferry, WV

This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ (Jeremiah 6:16 NIV)

Nags Head, NC

Make me walk along the path of your commands,
for that is where my happiness is found. (Psalm 119:35 NLT)

Washington, D. C.

This is one of my favorite vacation path photos. I imagine this sweet little sparrow isn’t ‘wrestling’ with what path to take!

..don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

(Matthew 10:31 NIV)

Lord, during seasons of spiritual ‘wrestling,’ life can seem so confusing. Help us to remember you care and are ready to lead us onto the right path. Remind us when we forget this truth. Amen

May your ways be blessed…

Sue Reeve
