Augustine Quote - Blackbird
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I am working on writing a 50-day devotional book. While since I was a little girl, I’ve dreamed of one day writing a book, I’ve been surprised by how daunting is the task. If you’d like to offer up a prayer on my behalf, I would be most grateful.
Today’s post references some of my work in the devo book as well as a couple of favorite photos from my husband. Ron captured the handsome yellow-winged blackbird in one of his excursions to the wetlands in North Idaho earlier this spring. The tulip, magnificent in its simplicity, was taken in our backyard.
About the significance of Scripture, the writer of Hebrews says: “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires” (Hebrews 4:12 NLT). This has been my experience. Scripture will be a focal point in each day of the devotional book I am writing.
Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God” has become a vital part of my spiritual formation. Here’s a quote from the devotional book I’m writing,
“For years, the words of Psalm 46:10 beckoned me in a wistful way. Yet, when I first began practicing the interconnected disciplines of stillness and silence, they felt counterintuitive. Within weeks of practicing, however, my soul connected as if to a mysterious spiritual magnet.”
