Discovering Faith in Discouragement

What can I do when life isn’t working out the way I hoped? When I see no evidence my best efforts are materializing the way I thought they would?

I was asking myself similar questions one sleepless night when I read an excerpt from the book Dirt: Growing Strong Roots in What Makes the Broken Beautiful by Mary Marantz, Yale Law School graduate and popular podcast host:

“I hang my head low, the weight of the shame and the disappointment so heavy my heart can hardly bare it. But instead of slapping my hands away, [God] gently counts every hair on my head.

He lifts my face to the light of His own. I feel the warmth wash over me…He won’t leave because somehow I wasn’t enough…”

Now, that, I reminded my discouraged soul, is the essence of faith.

May your efforts be blessed, and your faith built strong this autumn day…

Blessings on your Journey…
