Sunday on the Rhine River

Sunday, June 4th my niece and her husband treated us to a most memorable experience. The picture-perfect day began with a four-hour castle cruise along the Rhine River.

I love being on the water and must have looked pretty relaxed! In a later note from my niece, Celeste wrote that she loved seeing Aunt Susie in her hat “blissing” on the Rhine. “Blissing!” I loved that verb but needed to look it up. I found the definition at Oxford Language Dictionary which said blissing was to reach a state of perfect happiness, typically so as to be oblivious of everything else. Yep. That’s just how I was feeling as we rolled along the river, awed by the scenic castles and lush vineyards covering rolling hills.

After the cruise, Celeste announced we would be riding a cable car climbing hundreds of feet over the Rhine River Valley. Oh my, I wouldn’t be “blissing” now since I truly dislike heights. To help me deal with this phobia, I have been practicing a technique called Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) and found it extremely beneficial.

As we climbed higher and higher, tapping enabled me to relax and enjoy breathtaking views that were indeed a long way down.

At the top, we enjoyed spectacular views and exploring Niederwald Monument.

Finally, we were once again on solid ground, and strolling through the quaint village of Rüdesheim am Rhein was a treat.

What lovely memories were created during our Sunday on the Rhine River!
