I Can Choose…

Within the next few weeks, many neighbors will rejoice about the outcome of the November 3rd election because their preferred candidate was chosen. Many others will feel despair because the one they chose was not victorious.

If you haven’t done so already, please cast your vote in tomorrow’s election. Ron’s and my trip to New England last fall reminded us repeatedly of the great price many of our forefathers and foremothers paid so we could enjoy this privilege.

No matter the outcome of the election—whether the person I voted for won or did not—I pray God will help me do what Paul, who was writing from prison, advised his friends:

…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable and gracious, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, ponder these things. (Philippians 4:8)

While I may not agree with another’s political, moral, or even theological position,

I can choose to see the Imago Dei—image of God—in him or her.

I can choose to manage my thoughts.

I can choose to speak kind—or no—words.

I can choose to look for the positive.

I can choose to pray about the negative.

During this season of political transition, I am praying for you, our nation, and the world…

Blessings On Your Journey
