Sue’s Monday Morning Meditation

Scripture:
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105 ESV)
Prayer:
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9-11 ESV)
I continue to pray for your love to grow and increase beyond measure, bringing you into the rich revelation of spiritual insight in all things. This will enable you to choose the most excellent way of all—becoming pure and without offense until the unveiling of Christ. And you will be filled completely with the fruits of righteousness that are found in Jesus, the Anointed One—bringing great praise and glory to God! (Philippians 1:9-11 TPT)

Many years ago, I discovered the spiritual practice of praying Scripture. The prayers of the Apostle Paul in his letters to the early Church are filled with much richness.
Philippians 1:9-11 is a prayer I have prayed for my family; for friends who are new to, or filled with doubts about, the Christian journey; and even for myself.
We are all in different places in our journey of believing the message that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:1) Some of us are in the contemplating phase—curious but still skeptical. Some are brand new believers, uncertain about even the basics of growth. Others, like myself, have deep roots of belief but oftentimes struggle with the transition of my cognitive beliefs into unwavering trust that God chose and loves me; Jesus paid the ultimate price for my freedom; and the Holy Spirit is always with me and more than willing to guide me.
I have included two different versions of these verses in today’s Prayer. The first is from the English Standard Version, a reliable source for more intensive Bible study. The second, The Passion Translation, is written in modern language. Both are valuable to me.
Reflection Question:
What might be different in your life if your love for God, for others, and for yourself grew and increased, and how would that greater measure of love help you live a life that brings greater “glory and praise” to God?
