Taking a Glimpse of the Vatican Museum

Welcome to the Vatican Museum

We splurged on our Vatican tour and were glad we spent extra for a small, six-person tour that began early in the morning before massive throngs of tourists descended on the most visited tourist site in the world. Our guide was excellent. Here, she explains what we will see upon entering the Sistine Chapel where neither talking nor photographs were permitted.

Our guide explains historical aspects of the Roman Empire.

Typical tourists wearing our headsets.

So many statues!

Ron, striking a pose, while fully dressed. We saw lots of statues of naked folks while in Italy!

The Hall of Animals in Vatican Museum.

Ceilings painted with intricate scenes such as these.

Magnificent mosaics on the floors.

I think we’re about to enter the Sistine Chapel here, although I am not certain that is correct.

I think Ron managed to capture just how massive the Vatican Museum is in this photo.

I couldn’t help but think of a verse of Scripture as I marveled at the sacred scenes artists through the ages have imagined and painted.

However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—" 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)

I hope you’ve enjoyed a small glimpse of this magnificent museum.

Blessings on your Journey!
