Coffee+%26+Word.jpg

I’m a morning person and delight in that first hot cup of strong black coffee. I’m also a word nerd who is immersed in reading three or four books at any given time. The Bible is my favorite book! Spending time in the early morning at a desk my husband hand-crafted for me with a cup of coffee, a lit candle, and Scripture fills the remainder of my day with greater clarity and peace.

 One of my deepest desires is to craft life-giving words filled with encouragement, grace, and hope.

My personal experience has been that more accurate self-awareness leads to greater God awareness. I appreciate any type of assessment that increases awareness in myself and others.

My favorite song is “Jesus Loves Me!” This simple children’s song, I believe, encapsulates essential theological truth.

I’m convinced every person is designed uniquely in God’s image and possesses great promise. I also believe we live in a world filled with much evil, and God has given each person free will to choose the path of wisdom or foolishness; good or evil; self-centeredness or generosity; criticism or affirmation.

If resources were unlimited, I would travel the world. Push pins on a world map in my office mark places I’ve been and remind me of locales yet to be discovered.

I dislike small talk but lose track of time when engrossed in substantive conversations.

When another entrusts me with a chapter in her or his story, I hold the narrative tenderly because I believe every person’s story is a precious treasure.

My husband’s lovely photographs grace each of my blog posts. Often, you’ll see:

  • Images of pathways, reminders that life is a journey, and God is always taking us somewhere different;

  • Empty benches, reminding us of the unseen, but very real presence, of the Divine Spirit that is always right beside us;

  • Sunrises, representing the potential of each new day, and sunsets, evoking gratitude for the gift of each day;

  • Doors, whispering mystery and potential;

  • Sandy beaches, because walking barefoot on the beach nurtures my soul more than almost any other activity.
