Bringing You a Belated Fireworks Display

I hope you had a joyous July 4th weekend! I believe celebrating our nation is valuable. Even though there are chapters in the story I wished had not happened, I am grateful I was born in the United States and am proud to be an American. m.

For most of the past 17 years, my husband and I have spent July 3rd with our son-in-law’s family at Sunup Bay Resort on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Each year, Brandon’s dad, Dennis, organized a huge patriotic event that concluded with an impressive fireworks display. Sadly, Dennis passed away last July 3rd. His two sons and their families are keeping the tradition alive.

Ron and I stayed home this July 3rd. After dodging the Covid bullet for over two years, both of us contracted the nasty virus. Because my family was encouraging me to go, and because I was concerned about certain symptoms, I spent five hours in the Kootenai Hospital Emergency Room one night. Even though my condition was not critical, treatments provided by the compassionate ER staff were helpful, and each day we are feeling a bit better.

Instead of going to Sunup Bay, we attended online church, and I worked on putting together a “fireworks display” for you. These are all photos Ron took at Sunup Bay in 2019. A Google search for “Inspirational quotes about freedom” as well as words of Jesus and a quote from our pastor’s July 3rd sermon provided the accompanying inspiration.

No doubt about it, the current culture in which we live is fraught with many challenging situations, but I am filled with hope for better days in our nation and in the world. I catch glimpses of humanity’s goodness every day, and I believe so earnestly in God who is just, righteous, gracious, merciful, and desires to give good gifts.

Blessings to each of you and those you love. And God bless the U.S.A.!
