Prayer of St. Brendan

In today’s Listening on the Journey blog post, I’d like to re-introduce you to Brendan of Clonfert, also known as Brendan the Navigator, who was a 6th Century Irish monk.

In our current 21st Century when we are faced with much uncertainty and many unknowns, I hope you will be encouraged by the relevant words of St. Brendan’s prayer, which was written over 1400 years ago.

As always, I am praying for God’s blessing on your journey …

PRAYER OF ST. BRENDAN

(484-577)

"Help me to journey beyond the familiar

and into the unknown.

Give me the faith to leave old ways

and break fresh ground with You.

Christ of the mysteries, I trust You

to be stronger than each storm within me.

I will trust in the darkness and know

that my times, even now, are in Your hand.

Tune my spirit to the music of heaven,

and somehow, make my obedience count for You."

AMEN.

Blessings on your journey!
